In memoriam

Friends,

 With deep sorrow, I am sorry to announce the passing of alumnus Compton (“Como”) Ross (QC, !961-1967, Cunningham (“K”) House), on January 20, 2015, in Somerset, New Jersey, after a long illness, at the age of 64 years.  May his soul rest in everlasting peace.

 While at QC, Compton was active in the Scouts and the QC Cadets where he rose to the rank of Sergeant.  After leaving QC, Compton joined the Guyana Defence Force (“GDF”) where he rose to the rank of Captain, prior to migrating to the USA. 

 A private remembrance ceremony is being held for Compton this Saturday, January 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at The Holiday Inn, 195 Davidson Ave., Somerset, NJ 08873.  QC alumni and GDF alumni are specially invited.  Please see the attached for additional details on the ceremony.

Alumnus Trevor Jackman Passes On

I was informed by Michael Chan that Trevor Jackman of 1B 1969 passed away in Atlanta Saturday Dec 6, 2014 after ailing for many years.   He was the brother of alumni Errol and Colin Jackman.

Four weeks ago a group from Toronto joined with US based classmates and visited Trevor.

I am deeply saddened to announce the passing on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Guyana, of Waveney Agatha Benjamin, 81 years old (dob November 16, 1932), mother of alumni Neil Benjamin Jr. (QC, 1963-1971), Kenneth Benjamin (QC, 1965-1972), Alan Benjamin (QC, 1970-1972), and Denys Benjamin (QC, 1981-1986); and of BHS alumni Marcia Hunte, Judy Prince and Rosemary Benjamin-Noble.  She was predeceased by her husband Major (rtd) Neil Benjamin, former Chaplain of the Guyana Defense Force.  May her soul rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to Neil, Kenneth, Alan, Denys and the Benjamin family as they mourn the loss of their beloved matriarch on this sad occasion.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead

I am deeply saddened to announce the passing on Friday, May 3, 2013, in Montreal, Canada, of Thomas Alexander “TA” Smith, 101 years old (December 11, 1911 – May 3, 2013), father of alumni Tommy Smith and Aubrey Smith, founding member and the first president of our Chapter of QC alumni associations, and six others, two of whom are deceased, and grand, great grand and great great grand father of many including grandson and alumnus Alexander Carberry.  May his soul rest in peace.
